What a day it was! Kicked off at 10:00am and finished at 6:00pm .. going non-stop throughout the day.
The day opened up with Guanaba Country Music Club, then Lance Coassin entertained us followed by Mullumbimby CMC, Brigalow CMC, the Dekades .. and then our special guest artist for the day, Glenn Brace .. who once again was fantastic and entertained those present with his singing, wit and guitar playing. We then followed up with Smokehouse CMC, Redcliffe CMC, Twin Rivers CMC and Gold Coast CMC. At the conclusion of this, we had some of the Guanaba members who hadn't sung all day perform .. and the day was capped off by Guanaba's ad-hoc vocal group the "Rottweilers" .. lead by Peter Lohs.
Attendance on the day was 252 and all enjoyed themselves. Special thanks to those who donated goods for the cake stall (lots of yummy cakes) and for the multiple raffle. We had 98 prizes on offer, and all were claimed.
Thanks to all who made the day the success it was, as there were many willing workers who worked in many different ways, and these people pften do this with little or no thanks. Also thanks to Ray Cooper who was very busy taking photos, and these can be found on our new webpage at www.guanabacountrymusic.com ..
At our July social, Glenise Peters presented a cheque to the value of AUD$5400.00 to Janet Davis from the Abused Childs Trust, now known as Act For Kids. Janet was very pleased with the amount raised on the day, and outlined where the money would be used.
So now we look forward to preparing for Charity Day 2009. Once again, many thanks to everyone!
