Message from President & Secretary

To our valued friends

I take this opportunity to thank you all for the assistance and support that has been given to me over the past 13 years as President and prior to that 5 years as vice-President. This is a long time in anyone's life especially in mine and Denise's. I could not have achieved this without the support she has given me during this time.

As we fast approach the Annual Gener
al Meeting I have made a decision not to stand as President, likewise Denise has indicated that she is taking a break as well after 13 years in the role of Secretary. If you would recollect that at last years AGM I was not going to stand, however some of the goings on that went on in the Club plus the many phone calls of support to us changed our minds and we were subsequently re-elected for that year. After that meeting Denise and I discussed our future and agreed that the 2013 - 2014 year would be our final year in the leadership role for us. This was furthermore determined when Steven, our son, visited us over Christmas and told us that he and Lisa, were going to have a baby in June and having a break from a management role, would allow us to get away when and as we please to see them and have a bit of time to ourselves.

We will not be leaving the club and I will still be involved with the band but it will give us a bit more flexibility to be able to do our thing. This is something we are looking forward to.

As I said earlier I would like to thank you for the support, in many different ways, you have given and shown Denise & I over this time. And it is with a tear in the eye that we say thank you for your being there when you were needed.

We look forward to seeing you around the traps and for the future of Guanaba CMC and hope that the tradition of the Club continues on as one of being a fun club where all members strive to the success for the Club.

Many thanks and love to all

Charity Day 2014 Wrap-up

Once again what a day.  Many thanks to the CMC's who presented excellent shows on the day.  Also to all the supporters who made the day the success it was.  I must thank all members who assisted on the day and helped out, whether it be on the Door, Kitchen, Bar, Raffles, Sound and our musician's who helped out on the day.  Moreover a special thanks to you the members of CMC's and other visitors who made the day such a success.  The comments and congratulations received on the day made it all worthwhile.  I think that it was one of the best days we have had in a long, long time.  We kept the day flowing and surprise, surprise we actually kept to our timetable.  It was lovely to have our Member for Forde, Bert van Manen MP and his wife Judith, visit us for a couple of hours before he had to leave on official business.  Bert is a strong supporter of Guanaba CMC and we thank him for his time.

It was so nice to have Naz visit us with his parents Leah and Marty.  They are truly inspirational people and of course Naz bought the house down with his cheeky antics.  Naz was one of the kids we assisted a few years ago and it was lovely to see how he has progressed.  A special thanks to Joan Ewing and Kate O'Regan from CPL who manned the gate along with their volunteer's l

Thanks to Mullumbimby, Caldera, Twin Rivers, Gold Coast, Logan - Beaudesert, Brigalow and Smokehouse for your support.  For the first time in years we unfortunately had to decline one club as the timetable was filled soon after clubs were advised of the event.  A special thanks to our guest, "Elvis" who gave us a great rendition of "his" songs.  And Guanaba's band & singers who finished off the day.

I must thank also all our sponsors who kindly donated goods for our multi raffle.  Masters were very generous in donating a BBQ to raffle off and I know I'll probably forget someone but if I have many thanks to you all.  I know I slept very well on Sunday night.

Thanks to all and I'm sure that CPL will be very happy with the outcome of the day.  Dave Mazzer (President)

Visit to Smokehouse CMC

Top day for Guanaba’s club show at Smokehouse CMC yesterday, 23rd March, thanks to Lyn & the members who made us so welcome.  Thanks to those members who came and supported your club by performing and giving the performers moral support.  A special thanks to our band for their top show.  We had 8 singers as well as some great instrumentals by our band and even had the “Rottweilers” make a guest appearance as we sang one of Jim Steele’s favourites, Long Tall Texan.  Our bass player was not with us on this occasion, however Evelyn filled in and it was greatly appreciated.
